Registration for The Agen Workshop 2019

The Agen Workshop is addictive! People come back year after year.

We will be in the Lycée Saint Caprais in Agen and once again the town is offering a free tour for participants and their families. The conference will start on Monday, July 22nd and end on Saturday, July 27th at noon.

The full five days of amazing professional development costs only 475 euros.

Don’t wait too long to register, because we may have to limit the number of participants. You can pay through Paypal or by bank transfer. The Paypal button follows the registration form. If you wish to pay by bank transfer, contact Judy Dubois : judyldubois@aol.com.

Those who live in France can pay by check or cash.

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to post them in the comment section.

Looking forward to seeing you again!

Hello, Allison. The price for “veterans” who have already attended the Agen Workshop and are returning is 295 euros, as stated above. Newcomers who register before September 1st can pay by bank transfer. For them the price is 345 euros. If you wish, contact me at judyldubois@aol.com.

Hi there! I just completed registration form. Going to pay, one question: if the payment refundable? If I don’t get visa or can’t go to the conference?

    1. Judith Dubois

Hello, Kim. The payments which we receive now are used to book the lycée and hotel rooms for presenters and also to pay transportation costs. So it would be very difficult to reimburse money that was already spent. What I have done in the past, when someone unexpectedly found that they could not come, is to count their registration towards the following year. Even if the price went up, they were registered and guaranteed a place. So far, this has seemed acceptable to the few people concerned. Where are you coming from? Do you need anything for your visa?

Thank you Judith for your quick reply. I am from Kazakhstan. I don’t think I need help with visa and hope I can can it with no problem, just checking in case that happens. For some reason I can’t make the payment, can I contact in private by email or a messenger?

    1. Judith Dubois

Yes, unless we have so many that we have to limit registrations. After March 1st the price is 475 euros.

I hope you can make it. You’ll be the first person from Kazakhstan we’ve had. And Kazakhstan would be our 32nd country represented at the workshop!

Hi Judith, I am wondering about lodging. Can you post information on where, the cost, the lodging registration process…
    Thanks 🙂

There is information on The Agen Workshop Facebook page. The Stim’otel in Agen offers a special rate for our participants and a lot of people stay there. To get the special rate you have to register directly with them. Other people stay in Airnb’s. And some like the camping ground. In general it is not very expensive because Agen is not a big tourist center. Nowhere near what you would pay in Paris. The restaurants also are quite reasonable. If you need more information, you can private message me on Facebook.

Hello, Judith! I’ve just read about your seminar and interested in it. But I have never been at such events. Do I have to prepare article, or master-class or something like that? What kind of work will we do? What program will be suggested? And I have question about accommodation: what kind of room, what kind of food? Thank you very much. Waiting for your answer.

The mornings are given over to demonstration classes in French, English (I and II) Spanish, Breton, Mandarin and Latin. Our participants are all teachers of foreign languages. They choose which class they want to observe or may choose to be a student in one of the languages they don’t speak. During the afternoons there are sessions on Second Language Acquisition theory, classroom management, working with dyslexic students, using films, writing activities, TPRS and many other aspects of teaching foreign languages. You can go to the Agen Workshop Facebook page to see videos and learn more about the conference.

    Hi judith,
I’m wondering about the language used in the workshops such as classroom management for example, those which do not involve a practical demonstration of a language class. Are all of them taught in English or French?
    Thank you.

Since we are very international, with most people coming from outside of France, the common language is English. All the presentations are in English. In the past, if some participants felt a little weak in English, there was some informal simultaneous translating going on in the back.

Hello, I teach in Maine, USA and would like to participate in the Agen workshop 2019. Before I start planning the details, my school administration requires a Prior Professional Development Approval form in which I have to write a number of credits that I will earn, and also, attach a printed copy with all the details about the workshop (classes, location, and fees). Is there one page that could be printed with all the necessary information? Thank you.

I’d love to have people for Nigeria represented in Agen. We’re almost neighbors, since I lived in Cameroon for 17 years.

Hello Judith. Thank you very much for answering all these questions. What is the best way to get to Agen? Which airport?

  17. Judith Dubois

You need to compare prices because they can vary. Agen is half-way between Toulouse and Bordeaux, so either airport can work. Some compagnies charge less if you fly to Toulouse,, others will give you a better deal for Bordeaux and it can change from one day to another. The other possibility is to fly into Paris and take the train, the TGV, right from Charles de Gaulle airport to Bordeaux. It’s only 2 and a half hours. There’s a change at Bordeaux, usually quite easy and quick, and an hour to Agen. So check all of the possibilities and find which one works for you.

Hello Judith, what does the price of the workshop include? I would be coming from Boston, USA, but I am French. I am interested in next year’s conference, it is too late for me to plan for this year:)

  19. Judith Dubois

Hello! The price includes registration at the full five day conference including evening coaching sessions, morning and afternoon coffee breaks and the noon banquet on the last day. Participants cover their own room and board.
