This year Robert Harrell will be heading our coaching team. He will be working with Ariene Borutski, Diane Neubauer, Reed Riggs, Scott Benedict and others. They have been collaborating on how to train new coaches within the structure of our workshop. Robert says, “We want to encourage people to coach others as they grow in their own practice.” The Agen Coaching Workshop is open to any teacher who has been focusing on giving their students Comprehensible Input at least 70% of the time for at least three years. The coaching workshop is open to those who use TPR, Movie Talk, Story Listening, One Word Images, Picture Talk, Clip Chat, Embedded Reading, TPRS, Readers’ Theater, etc.
You do not have to be an “expert” to be a coach. It takes empathy and curiosity, a desire to engage with others in order to help them grow, knowing that we all have to find our own style. All participants will continue working with their coaching trainers during the week. The price, 95 euros, includes lunch on Sunday, July 21st.
Training will begin on Sunday, July 21st at 8:30 am. Participants will spend time getting to know each other and learning to develop the trust that is the key to a good coaching relationship. The theory and philosophy behind our approach will be explained and then the method will be described, step by step.
At lunch the group will have a relaxed meal together, processing the information presented in the morning.
In the afternoon they will put into practice the theories of the morning.
Throughout the week the Trainees will practice their coaching skills at the different coaching sessions, working with a “Coach Whisperer”. Some of them may be selected to work with the “Embedded Coach” in the Language Labs.
